Activity Last Month
Goals that were met, decisions made, milestones met, etc.
The call for proposals for a ZTC in Marketing has been extended to August 28th in hopes that institutions will have more time to complete applications. Some feedback was received that the challenges institutions and faculty face right now in converting all courses for online delivery means there is little time to complete applications and consider the work in developing a ZTC.
An update email was sent to the Business ZTC advisory group to provide a summary of the activity over the last couple of months and to ask members to share information regarding the call for proposals.
The following is a summary of the activity on Business OER projects:
1) Tourism
The Intro to Tourism textbook updates are near completion. It is expected that it will be complete by mid-August and ready to be added to the BCcampus collection. Melanie attended a meeting with the authors and has been providing support via email as well. A blog post about the tourism project will be written once the book is complete (in September).
2) Consumer Behaviour
Andrea Niosi, the book author, has received positive feedback over the summer term on the draft text from her students. They expressed how much they appreciated a free textbook. Colleagues of Andrea’s are reviewing the book using Hypothesis. Once the reviews are complete she will be making updates to the book. Andrea is interested in hiring a couple of students to assist with the style and design guide for the book as well as updating it for accessibility in the fall.
3) Developing a Marketing Plan
Work has continued on the book over the last month. The interim report for this project is due mid-August and the template for this report has been provided to the book author.
4) Digital Marketing
Work has continued on the book over the last month. The interim report for this project is due mid-August and the template for this report has been provided to the book author.

- Melanie will be on holiday Aug 1-24 so it is expected that activity will be low
Risks and Issues
Risk/Issue | Level | Mitigation |
---|---|---|
Timelines for projects may be impacted as a result of Covid-19 related delays. | Low | Currently Business ZTC projects are underway. Continuing communication with project leads about timelines and providing support with Pressbooks will assist in keeping on track. |
Work on Business ZTC projects will likely extend beyond the end of fiscal 2020/21. While existing funds will be distributed to institutions on time, they will require from BCcampus beyond March 31s, 2021 | Medium | Project Manager roles will continue until Sept 2021 to provide that level of support. |
