What are Open Educational Resources?

In the BCcampus Open Education Self-Publishing Guide, we’ve shared our definition of open educational resources (OER): “teaching, learning, and research resources that, through permissions granted by their creator, allow others to use, distribute, keep, or make changes to them.”

A subset of OER, open textbooks, including those found in the B.C. Open Collection, can help improve the learning experience for students while mitigating the financial barriers keeping them from achieving their academic goals.
