This is a calculus-based book meant for the first semester of a first year survey course taken by engineering and physical science majors. It has a traditional order of topics whereby force is discussed before energy. It is divided into 17 chapters that cover a review of high school physics, scaling and estimation, vectors, velocity, acceleration, forces, circular motion, gravity, conservation of energy, work, conservation of momentum and angular momentum, vibrations, and resonance. A treatment of relativity is interspersed with the Newtonian mechanics, in optional sections.

Q: The text covers all areas and ideas of the subject appropriately and provides an effective index and/or glossary
This is a very complete text about the principals of Mechanics. I found it very interesting and a good read.
The author covers many aspects of mechanics from Scaling and Estimation, Motion in One Dimension, Acceleration and Free Fall, Force and Motion. Motion in Three Dimensions, Conservation Laws, and vibrations and Resonance.
The math is well explained with good examples and problems at the end of each section. Answers are also provided at the end of the text and internet references are provided.

Q: Content is accurate, error-free and unbiased
The author provided historical references through out the text to provide examples of thinking in the past and how these ideas have changed over time with more complete testing programs.

The arrangement of the chapters should allow revisions at any time.

With my back ground in aviation sciences I have enjoyed reading the subject matter. Th organization of the material flows smoothly from on subject to the next. There is a logical flow the material.

The references to technologies of other scientists uses their language and allows the reader better understanding of the material.

Q: The text is easily and readily divisible into smaller reading sections that can be assigned at different points within the course (i.e., enormous blocks of text without subheadings should be avoided). The text should not be overly self-referential, and should be easily reorganized and realigned with various subunits of a course without presenting much disruption to the reader.
The arrangement of the text could allow the reader to exert sections without loosing the main information point.

I have enjoyed reading this book and would like read more like it.
